Annual territory planning

Planning season, without the war room.

The new plan has to be fair, defensible to every leader, and live in Salesforce before kickoff. BoogieBoard gets you there without a quarter of spreadsheet versions and late-night data loads.

Where year-end planning goes sideways

Plan_v7_FINAL_final.xlsx

One committed plan, with safe scenarios for every what-if — and a merge tool that brings the winner back.

Leaders don't trust the numbers

The BoogieBoard shows every book against every goal, green or red. Fairness stops being an opinion.

Every what-if takes two days

Clone the scenario, change the goal, rerun Auto-Balance. Compare the results the same afternoon.

Feedback is buried in email threads

Invite each leader to their own branch of the plan. Comments, @mentions and tasks live next to the territories.

Go-live is a weekend data load

Commit the plan, preflight the changes and push to Salesforce in one step, or let ownership switch on the start date.

Nobody remembers the rules by March

The Blueprint documents every rule, goal, lock and owner on one page, searchable and exportable.

The playbook

Five steps from last year's plan to next year's kickoff

Connect

Sync Salesforce and bring in the fields you'll plan on, including rollups like open pipeline.

Model

Lay out regions and segments, or import your ETM model and let BoogieBoard suggest the rules behind it.

Balance

Set your goals, run Auto-Balance, and carve by geography where it matters.

Review

Compare scenarios, invite leaders to their branch, and merge the plan everyone agrees on.

Go live

Commit, preflight and push, with ownership switching on your effective date.

Scenarios

Try every what-if. Merge only the winner.

Twenty reps or twenty-five? Industry or geography? Clone the plan into a scenario, make the change, and compare. When you've picked a direction, the merge tool shows every node, goal and assignment change. Keep the ones you want, and a restore point is saved first.
Readiness

Know exactly what's left before kickoff

The scenario dashboard tracks every segment from rules to territories, goals, assignments and pushed-to-Salesforce, and flags unrouted accounts and empty territories. Every cell links straight to the fix.
Leader review

Leaders review the plan inside the plan

Invite each sales leader to just their branch. They make their own calls (moving accounts between their reps, which locks them in place) and @mention RevOps when they're ready. RevOps reruns Auto-Balance, every leader's lock holds, and the loop repeats until everyone signs off. No more forwarding spreadsheets.
  • A simple view scoped to each leader's branch
  • Leader moves hold as locks through every rebalance
  • Comments and @mentions become tasks, with Slack or email notifications
Blueprint

Write the rules of engagement down — once

The Blueprint turns the plan into one document: territory rules, balance goals, locking rules and the roster. Search it, comment on it, and export it to HTML or Markdown for the sales kickoff deck.
Go live

One push to Salesforce. No weekend data load.

Push committed territories to Enterprise Territory Management, Account Owner, Account Teams or BoogieBoard's custom objects. A preflight lists every write first, and date-effective assignments switch ownership on the day the new plan starts.

FAQ

Annual planning questions

When should we start next year's territory plan?

Most teams start eight to ten weeks before the new fiscal year, once headcount and the number are close. With BoogieBoard the carving itself takes days, so the time goes into decisions and leader review instead of spreadsheet assembly.

Can we start from our current territories?

Yes. Import your existing Salesforce territory model or current assignments, and BoogieBoard can suggest the account rules that describe each territory — a head start on documenting a model nobody wrote down.

How do we get sales leaders to buy in?

Show them the BoogieBoard: every book against every goal, green or red. Then invite each leader to their own branch so they can comment and request changes inside the plan.

Do draft scenarios count toward our plan?

No. Only territories in committed scenarios count, so explore as many what-ifs as you like.
